I agree to some extent, though Pettman has done a great job of making Ding look good with the amount of missed opportunities that Pettman failed to capitalize on..

EDIT: I also feel The 3rd frame played a pivotal part early on in the match when Pettman played to pot the blue at pace, which resulted in him missing and handing the frame to his opponent..

Was watching Ebdon-Dott untill it was obvious that it's one-sided
(what happened to Ebdon?? was a little unlucky too.. but I guess the real reason was Dott on fire. Eurosport2ru commentary was praising Dott a lot, especially at the start of the match, and expecting he could cause some surprises in the tournament. wonder if this commentary is even less reliable than the famous mr.sinitsin )

Last few frames of King-Davis I saw were not scrappy at all, both of them were playing pretty well, nothing like a miss-fest I would have expected.
Seemed like Davis was on a wave of fluent & confident game.
Having watched the whole game, I think it would be safe to say that the last 3 frames of that game were definitely the best. The first 16 were littered with easy misses and poor positional play, with both players having their share of flukes and luck (both good and bad at times).

An epic, if not world class in terms of quality, game of snooker

Steve has to be the classiest player ever. Still love watching him play, brilliant to see him win. Hope he plays well against Higgins!

Brilliant result for Steve. So pleased to see him win a match at the crucible again for the first time since 2006. I don't expect him to do quite so well against John Higgins, but don't mind so much after he's treated us to such a thriller once again. One of these days, it would be nice to see him win a match comfortably though, rather than subject his fans to torture in a final frame decider! Hard luck Mark - could have gone either way.

Now if someone would put the final frame on youtube so I can watch it I am SO glad that Steve won. I just hope the miracle dream can continue next round...somehow. Watson did it in the Open last year, why not Davis?

Steve was SO BLOODY thrilled he looked 20 years younger!
Totally worth the price of admission had I been lucky enough to have had tickets and to have been there to have
experienced it with a pint or many with all of you guys afterwards... now I know what heaven is and it ain't clouds and harps...
it's cues and balls and baize.

God I love snooker and the WC!!!

    =o)

Yes, tremendous match. Before it started, I just thought to myself that it could go 10-9 and finish at 1am. I wasn't far off.

It was so dramatic that it actually kept me from watching Ebdon-Dott, which seemed like the better prospect. I'm surprised at the result, I thought Ebdon would be pretty sharp in this Championship. If he loses this match, it would give Cope a pretty good chance of finishing 16th in the rankings, although to be honest, I'd prefer it to be Ebdon.

I wonder how close Davis can get to Higgins now... I suppose not very, but with this kind of crowd support, you never know...

Wow. The best frame of snooker I have seen in a long time! Superb stuff! Such an unfortunate end for King as he was getting close with getting snookers and Steve was shaking.

The look on Davis' face when the ref called a touching ball on the green, then King over hits it when going behind the pink!

    Absolutely brilliant stuff.
