I hoped that the game could still survive without Ronnie but these last 2 tournaments the UK and this have been a major let down. There is just nobody in the game capable of making this game exciting or entertaining and that for me is the worry. If I had paid to watch any of this I would seriously have to think whether I'd want to spend money that could be better spent elsewhere. That is the question that many fans are also going to be thinking after this.

Henceforth i dub Selby the Weeble Wobble, suits the movements he makes when cueing.

Selby will be delighted to take all four frames so far tonight. He got a couple of chances out of nowhere, getting unlikely doubles, and he played some very good shots at the right time to win frames on the colours. He really is a master of that type of snooker.
But Williams had his chances to take frames cleanly, he is just not playing well enough to take advantage at the moment. I think it's fair to say he would have been out of the tournament by now if he'd found himself in a different quarter of the draw.

Apart from Allen v Robertson the rest of the quarter finals have been pathetic for so called the best players in the game. This is club standard stuff at times and many of the players outside the top 32 can and do perform better than this. A terrible advert for snooker, on the back of a poor UK championship too.
Personally think this is a result of too many events in the season. I think the players mentally are gone, they are playing near enough every week and snooker is unlike many sports where you have to concentrate for every moment of the match. Unlike other games where its a lot of subconcious state, i.e. you can go on autopilot and maintain a good standard, snooker requires a lot of mental capacity and its impossible to maintain that level every day of every week.
Think they need to take a good look at the schedule now, if I was a player I'd be taking a month off the game and prepare myself for the crucible as that can be the only focus now for the top players.
