The ROS situation is really ubuesque.....that he wears special shoes because he's injured, why not, but come on....don't tell me you can't find a pair of black trainers out there! At least he could do some effort to find something discret...
Like Willo said on Twitter, how many players could get away wearing this stuff?

No you cant play deliberate fouls in snooker and as you say this will be considered ungentlemanly conduct and reprimanded as per that rule (warning, then award frame, then award match; if behaviour continues).
But then saying that, some years ago Ronnie deliberately played with no effort to hit the ball on, several times and the referee did not warn him once!
Hoping someone links the shot in question

Am I the only one who thinks the Ding deliberate foul is a bigger news story than Ronnie's trainers?

If Ding deliberately bent the rules to gain an unfair advantage, even if not technically cheating, I'd still be disappointed in him as a professional. This is a sport that prides itself in player's calling fouls on themselves, and often boasts about it's gentlemanly conduct even in professional tournaments. If Ding breached that, it's kind of disappointing. Especially from a player of his talent.

Ronnie's trainers though looked a bit lairy when he turned up in them, I can't really see the big deal that he wore them. I mean, come on. If those monstrosities that Judd wears are okay, and those silver glitter jobbies that Brecel has are allowed, who cares about Ronnie wearing trainers?

                nah

do you know when this pink foul occurred, frame/score?

found it, for those that missed it.

Judging by his facial reaction, I think Ding mistakenly thought the black was a red

Maybe. His body language/reaction wasn't that of somebody who was deliberately trying to gain an unfair advantage. Certainly an odd one.

I watched it at work on mute. What did the commentators say about it?

What's the general consensus? A brain fart by Ding?

Couldn’t say he really needed any more of an advantage being already 2-0 and 40 odd points ahead

I can't watch the video for some reason, but a deliberate foul surely come under "ungentlemanly conduct" ??

No the ref couldn't call the intentional foul from my understanding because ding was on a red and hit a red
