Completely agee with you on Trump not having a B game, and no patience neither. His game will suffer from it. Meanwhile Murph keeping his cool and progressing to a 6-1 lead...go Shaun!!!

He is trying to make things happen but every mistake he makes he is not getting away with. Murphy has missed more balls but got away with nearly everyone. Its a very cruel game at times and there is not a lot Trump can do about it other than hope that luck turns around but I fear its too late now because Murphy is not likely to let a big lead slip again like he did against Dott.
The only thing he can do? How about actually getting close to pots he attempts? Or not missing sitters, or not leaving reds near pockets on safety shots?

This is really getting ridiculous. Murphy is lucky not to leave a sitter after playing a good escape back to baulk, while luck apparently played no part in Murphy actually snookering himself on all colours after getting a good long pot.

I don't think many players have a 'b' game and what exactly is a 'b' game anyway. No player can play to the top of their form all the time but a lot of the reason people think the big names have a 'b' game is largely because when they are off form a little it puts pressure on their opponent who often doesn't take their chance to beat them. Like Carter against Ronnie, he'll never beat him because he has it in his head he can't beat him, ditto Hendry and Higgins in the past too with their record against most players.

Its a myth that players have a 'b' game, sure it will be called that but if they played their 'b' game as they put it against any top 32 player on top of their game they would lose, pure and simple.

          • Trump has potted an average of 6 balls per frame so far...incredible!

Go on Shaun...keep the pressure on.

Indeed. Luck evens out, what goes around comes around, players make their own luck. Luck only enters into a game when players are making mistakes, if they're playing well they're in control and luck plays only a very small part. If they're playing badly then a bit of luck can help, or hinder. It's unlikely for any one player to only have good luck, or only have bad luck.

Can't talk to people who don't play the game, you'll never understand the point I'm making. The red Murphy potted to leave himself snookered was always going into the reds, he was relying on luck to be on a colour. After that he was relying on luck to not leave the red over the middle, so whatever way you look at it he relied on two bits of luck and eventually came out of the situation fortuitously.

And getting close to pots is easier said than done when you are not confident and being starved of easy chances like Murphy has had. that kick in the first frame when Trump was in changed this match completely.

You make your own chances by playing good safety and selecting good shots. The kick was unlucky, but a professional snooker player has to be able to shrug something like that off, especially this early in a match. Snooker is a game about mental strength as much as anything.

Murphy playing ok, but indeed missing too may easy balls as well.

Ali has a big issue with Mr Rocket...Ali as a bit of a Napoleon complex I'm afraid. 13-0 atm between them...

This is the real reason this match is going the way it is, not luck.

True that, especially in a long match like this and so early on one kick doesn't (at least it shouldn't!) change anything. Is Trump bottling it...
